France/Saint-Santin. A trip to Laspuña to celebrate the twinning's tenth anniversary
A 40-strong delegation of elected representatives and residents of Saint-Santin travelled to Laspuña, in the Spanish province of Aragon, a few days ago to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the twinning arrangement between the two towns.
The French delegation arrived in Spain in splendid sunshine, where a large number of Laspuña residents had gathered to welcome them. A magnificent three-day weekend in Laspuña, which unfolded at a frenetic pace, given the packed program prepared by our Spanish friends. It was a succession of visits, notably to the Gistain valley, meetings and exchanges, combining tourism and conviviality.
Planting a chestnut tree
But the highlight of the trip was the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the twinning with the planting of a chestnut tree, brought by the French delegation to symbolize and seal these ten years of friendship. Indeed, this adventure began in May 2015. The elected representatives and inhabitants of Saint-Santin were discovering this small Spanish mountain village for the first time, when they came to celebrate the protocol of the twinning oath.
Another highlight of the visit was the festive evening on Saturday evening, organized in honor of the arrival of the French delegation and attended by many Laspuña residents, which took place in an exceptional atmosphere.
This twinning event, marked by friendship and conviviality, renewed and strengthened the bonds of friendship with the people of Laspuña. At the end of the day on Sunday, the French delegation headed back to France. Thanks to the great hospitality of our Spanish friends, each participant took away with them unforgettable memories of this magnificent stay, as well as of all the moments shared, which demonstrated the great success of this twinning for the population of both communes.
We look forward to seeing you next year in 2026 in Saint-Santin.
