While the creation of a new commune between Honfleur (Calvados) and La Rivière-Saint-Sauveur has been abandoned for the time being, the two communes are strengthening their collaboration in 2025 by developing two new partnerships around video surveillance and urban waste management.

Michel Lamarre, mayor of Honfleur (Calvados), and Didier Depirou, mayor of La Rivière-Saint-Sauveur, have strengthened their collaboration by developing two new partnerships for video protection and urban cleaning, in 2025.

Why mutualize new services between the two communes when you've abandoned the project for a new commune?

Michel Lamarre: Just because there's no new commune doesn't mean we can't work together! We know that the coming years are going to be tough, because the State is going to share its debt reduction with the communes. We'll be getting less and less help. We are anticipating this by grouping orders and sharing services that will enable us to make savings. It's concrete, it's for our residents and for their everyday comfort.

How will the partnerships for video surveillance and urban cleanliness be structured?

Didier Depirou: As far as video surveillance is concerned, we're going to set up a consortium that will enable us to pool the purchase of cameras in order to extend surveillance on the one hand, and develop it on the other. There are currently 33 cameras in Honfleur, and the national police force recommends installing around ten in La Rivière-Saint-Sauveur. By acquiring the same equipment, we will also be able to share the urban supervision center installed in Honfleur.

As for urban cleanliness, this involves mobilizing Honfleur's equipment and agents to intervene in sectors that are an extension of Honfleur. Sometimes, the sweeper stops just a few meters from La Rivière-Saint-Sauveur.

Are other partnerships planned?

D.D: The two communes would like to organize training courses for their agents on major risks. Because if a toxic cloud arrives, everyone is concerned! Pollution knows no borders.
