Benin/Visit of the President of the Human Rights Council to the INF: A reinforced commitment to gender equality in Benin
On Wednesday May 21, 2025, the Institut National de la Femme (INF) was honored to welcome a visit from H.E. Mr. Jürg LAUBER, President of the Human Rights Council (HRC). This meeting was part of the work of the regional workshop for Africa, organized in Cotonou from May 20 to 23, 2025, by the HRC Trust Fund for Least Developed and Developing Countries.
Warmly received by Ms Huguette BOKPE GNACADJA, President of the INF, Mr Jürg LAUBER received a comprehensive presentation of the programs and initiatives deployed to promote the rights of women and girls in Benin. Discussions focused on the persistent challenges and progress made in the fight against gender-based violence. In this respect, the INF model, as a public institution committed to combating all forms of discrimination and violence against women, was of particular interest during the discussions.
This visit by the High Representative of the Human Rights Council illustrates the significant recognition of the strategic role of the Institut National de la Femme in building a more just and equitable society.
This visit is also intended to be a catalyst for strengthening existing partnerships and opening up new avenues of cooperation, thereby consolidating support for Benin's efforts in the field of women's rights.
