Two major ceremonies are scheduled for today, Monday April 28, 2025, in Bouaké. These are the inauguration of the fully renovated and functional Centre hospitalier régional (Chr), and the official handover of the new town hall, an achievement long awaited by the population.

The Vice President of the Republic, Tiémoko Meyliet Koné, is the guest of honor at these events, which mark a milestone in the development of the country's second-largest city.Yesterday, when we visited both sites, the excitement was at its peak. Everything was being meticulously orchestrated to ensure total success, from the final sweeps to technical adjustments and the installation of security systems. At the Chr, we met Dr Kouamé Noël Kouassi, the director. Enthusiastic, he confided that the health facility is already up and running, ready to offer quality services to the population. Built in a pavilion style on a 10-hectare site, it has established itself as a level 2 health facility, meeting modern standards. The Chr has an intensive care unit (main block), a general surgery block, a pediatrics department, a gynecology-obstetrics department and an obstetrics department.a gyneco-obstetrics department, an operating room, an ophthalmology practice, a maternity ward and a technical block. With a capacity of 150 beds, it is designed to care for more than 800,000 patients from Bouaké and the surrounding region, and its pride and joy is its neurosurgery unit, a rare facility in the interior of the country.

This ultra-specialized department is equipped to perform delicate operations on the brain and spinal column, making the Chr de Bouaké a reference center for neurological care. This step forward will not only reduce the need for medical evacuations to Abidjan, but will also bring cutting-edge care directly to the people of central Côte d'Ivoire. Modern, spacious and functional, it replaces the old, outdated building. With its contemporary architecture, the building houses modern administrative offices, a large council chamber, several meeting rooms and an auditorium for major public meetings. Today's double ceremony reflects the government's strong commitment to modernizing public infrastructure, particularly in inland towns. Health, local governance, public services: Bouaké benefits from a major boost to its development.
