Belgium

The Vismet ducks are back in the ponds between Quai au Bois à Brûler and Quai aux Briques, the City of Brussels announced on Wednesday. The aim is to attract visitors to the capital's city center with a "convivial program that supports local commerce", the city reminds us.

Five in number, measuring between 1.60 and 2.50 metres in height, these 3D structures in the shape of yellow-orange ducks are backlit by solar lamps. While the ducks adorn the large pool, the giant letters "BXL" have taken over the smaller pool. To the delight of the people of Brussels, the City also organizes family events near the ducks every first Sunday of the month, between 2 and 6 pm.

"As we saw last year, these giant ducks bring cheerfulness and color, which attracts more families and visitors around the Vismet," stressed Brussels Alderman for Economic Affairs Didier Wauters. "Our hope is that the restaurants and shops in the surrounding area will be able to take full advantage."
