Côte d'Ivoire/Easter 2025: ANAGED launches a special sanitation operation in Gagnoa's bus stations
In anticipation of the crowds of travelers during the Easter holidays, on Wednesday April 9, 2025, the Goh regional delegation of the Agence nationale de gestion des déchets (ANAGED) launched a vast sanitation awareness campaign in Gagnoa's bus stations, with an official launch at the UTB company station.
"It's a week when a lot more garbage is produced," explained Edy Konan, ANAGED's regional delegate for the Goh region.ANAGED's regional delegate for Goh, pointing out that the large number of travelers leaving for the central and central-western regions leads to increased waste production.
Faced with this seasonal challenge, the general management has instructed its regional delegations to take specific measures to maintain the cleanliness of stations before, during and after the Easter festivities scheduled from April 14. In collaboration with the Haut Conseil des Transports, sanitation committees have been set up in the various stations, and a waste management plan has been drawn up in conjunction with the collection company SPRO BTP.
At the launch ceremony, ANAGED donated four large refuse garbage cans and hundreds of refuse bags to UTB. This initiative, which will be extended to all Gagnoa bus stations, follows a clean-up day organized the day before in Ouragahio.day the previous day in Ouragahio, 17 km from Gagnoa, where cleaning materials were also distributed.
To reinforce the impact of this campaign, awareness-raising spots on eco-citizen gestures are being broadcast on local radio stations in French and local languages (Bété, Malinké and Baoulé).
The second deputy mayor of Gagnoa, Bony Valentin, praised ANAGED's efforts since the collection operator was installed in February. "Thank you for turning the old town of Gagnoa into a young and beautiful city," he declared. SPRO BTP is one of the two operators selected to collect garbage in the commune, with the second still to be appointed.
