From March 26 to 28, 2025, Yaoundé, Cameroon, is hosting a workshop of major importance for the future of Cameroonian higher education. Organized by the Ministry of Higher Education (MINESUP), with technical and financial support from the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie, this event aims to establish a solid legal framework for the National Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission.

The main objective is to provide Cameroon with an effective and credible quality assurance system, essential for guaranteeing the excellence and recognition of higher education. The participants, experts and key players in the sector, will be working on the drafting of regulatory texts, in particular a draft decree on the organization and operation of the Commission, as well as on the development of a quality assurance system.organization and operation of the Commission, as well as the definition of an economic model for financing quality assurance.

This workshop, which is part of a collaborative approach involving the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie via its Académie Internationale de la Francophonie Scientifique (AIFS) and the Réseau Africain Francophone des Agences Nationales d'Assurance Qualité (RAFANAQ), is being carried out in response to the Cameroonian government's request for AUF support in structuring and operationalizing the National Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission. The expected results are concrete: draft regulatory texts, a viable economic model and a detailed report on the work carried out.

The participation of Virginie Tallio, Deputy Regional Director in charge of projects at the AUF's Regional Office for Central Africa and the Great Lakes, underscores the commitment of the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie to support Cameroon's move towards quality higher education, adapted to the challenges of the 21st century.
