Algeria/ El Bayadh: "Rahma" restaurants reflect commitment to values of solidarity and fraternity

Fast-breaking restaurants for the needy and passers-by, known as "Rahma restaurants", which open their doors during the holy month of Ramadhan in the wilaya of El Bayadh, are one of the most important aspects of solidarity and social mutual aid.

These are initiatives for which benefactors and charitable associations redouble their efforts and generosity, confirming the community's attachment to the values of solidarity.

Many charitable associations, in addition to their annual social and charitable activities, organize collective fast-breaking meals during this blessed month. Association members and volunteers work tirelessly to organize iftar tables, collect foodstuffs donated by benefactors, and prepare dishes to be served at the iftar table.paring the iftar dishes for fasting passers-by or those in need, in an atmosphere of solidarity and mutual aid.

The Algerian Red Crescent (CRA), through its wilaya committee and local branches, is deploying its volunteers to serve visitors to these Ramadhan restaurants. To this end, three restaurants have been inaugurated in the communes of El Bayadh, Rogassa and Chellala, according to the president of the wilaya committee, Mohamed Fawzi.

After the major solidarity operation carried out a few days before the start of Ramadhan, which resulted in the distribution of 15.000 food parcels to the wilaya's needy, the CRA's members and volunteers preferred to concentrate on collective work for the benefit of travellers and the needy during this holy month, rather than having their own iftar at home. Over 500 meals are served daily in these three restaurants, according to the same source.

For its part, the "Kafil El Yatim" wilaya charity association has opened three "Rahma" restaurants in the communes of El Bayadh, Kheither and Ghassoul, to enable fasters to break their fast in a family atmosphere. The association's restaurant, located at the El Abtal service station on the RN 47 national road in the Thénia area (El Bayadh), attracts a large number of citizens, particularly road users and those in need of an iftar, in a setting imbued with the spirit of the association.According to the association's president, Noureddine Abbes, between 150 and 260 meals are served every day.

The orientation and reform association has also opened a restaurant for travellers at the entrance to the commune of Bougtob, under the slogan "Men pass, but the impact remains". Here, the association's volunteers work hard every day to prepare and distribute meals for travellers and the needy in an exceptional family atmosphere.

For its part, the "Djazair El-Kheir" association takes part in this charitable action by opening a collective fast-breaking restaurant in the wilaya's main town, where between 180 and 350 meals are served daily, in addition to 40 take-away meals for families receiving care during the holy month, pointed out the president of the association's local branch, Bouzada Cheikh.

Dr Noureddine Mehdaoui, professor of sociology and director of the Institute of Human and Social Sciences at the "Nour El-Bachir" University Center in El Bayadh, pointed out that these charitable initiatives, organized through the "Rahma" restaurants and financed by local charities, were in keeping with the association's mission.Rahma" restaurants and financed by benefactors, not only have a religious and spiritual value for the organizers, but also play a major social role in strengthening national cohesion and fraternal ties.
