Togo/ Decentralization: Doufelgou 1 and Sotouboua 2 validate their files of taxpayers with non-tax revenues
In Togo, the commune of Doufelgou 1 now has its own taxpayer file, following a census conducted from March 04 to 11, 2025.
The creation of this file, which was validated on Friday March 14, is part of an initiative supported by the GIZ's Decentralization and Governance Program (ProDeG IV), aimed at strengthening the local tax base through the use of technological tools and a rigorous methodology.
The census operation identified 597 taxpayers - merchants, craftsmen, service providers and other economic players - with an estimated contribution of 56.5 million F CFA. Using the SIG Recettes application, the enumerators collected precise data, including the geolocation of taxable materials, facilitating the planning and optimization of municipal financial management.
According to Tchapkro Tchemi Tchambi, mayor of Doufelgou 1, "this tool gives us a clear map of tax resources and enables us to better direct our investments for local development". For his part, Mr. Etêh-Messan Agbodan, technical advisor to ProDeG IV, stressed the importance of continuously updating this database to guarantee sustainable revenue mobilization.
On Thursday March 13, 2025, the commune of Sotouboua 2 also validated its taxpayer file, as part of the same project in Adjengré. For this locality, 991 taxpayers were identified in the cantons of Séssaro, Titigbé, Aouda, Kériadè, Fazao and Adjengré, for an estimated contribution of nearly 27 million F CFA.
