France/ Forty German twins expected in La Ferté-Macé on Ascension Day
On Thursday March 13, 2025, the general meeting of the La Ferté-Macé (Orne) - Neustadt twinning committee was held. An exchange takes place every year, either in France or Germany, and school exchanges are also organized.
The general meeting of the La Ferté-Macé (Orne) - Neustadt (Germany) twinning committee took place on Thursday March 13, 2025 at the Centre Socioculturel, with around 30 people in attendance.
In 2024, 53 people from La Ferté-Macé, including families, fire department representatives and Mayor Michel Leroyer, went to Neustadt. We were welcomed by schoolchildren and classical music," explains Marie France Villette, president of the twinning association. The trip included a family day out in Hanover.
In April, around twenty pupils from Neustadt came to La Ferté and were welcomed by families of schoolchildren from Ferté and Carrouges. They visited Mont-Saint-Michel, the Haras du Pin stud farm and a farm in Champsecret. Finally, the twinning committee took part in the Christmas market, selling cakes and other items made by committee members.
Welcoming the Germans
According to Marie-France Villette: Some 40 people are expected to come to La Ferté-Macé over the Ascension weekend, but we're still looking for a family to host them. The correspondents from Neustadt will travel with participants in the Flers/Wunstorf twinning, arriving in La Ferté-Macé late morning on Thursday May 29 at the Centre Socioculturel.
After the welcome, the afternoon will be spent with the family, as will Friday May 30 until 7 p.m., when a festive meal will be served at the Salle des Fêtes in La Sauvagère. Richard Berry will provide the entertainment. On Saturday May 31, we'll be visiting the Haras du Pin at around 10 a.m. After lunch, we'll head off to the horse show in the afternoon. The Germans and French will then meet at the Salle des Fêtes in La Sauvagère, and the pen pals will leave the following morning.
School exchanges
Twenty-five pupils from the Jacques Brel secondary school visited Neustadt from March 3 to 10, accompanied by their teacher. The Twinning Committee is contributing €40 per pupil. From April 22 to 28, German pupils will be coming to La Ferté-Macé, accompanied by 2 teachers.
Entertainment
A bingo will be organized on Saturday November 29, hosted by Nathalie, a professional entertainer.
Twinning members will take part in the Christmas market in December.
