Côte d'Ivoire/ Civil-military unit raises awareness of public safety rights, duties and responsibilities
The Kong civil-military cell (CCM) held an awareness-raising session on Friday, March 07, 2025 for the people of Kong on their rights, duties and responsibilities in terms of public safety.
This activity, which took place in the Barrola-Extension district, is part of the SECUNORD 2 project, financed by the European Union and implemented by the NGO COGINTA. The initiative aims to strengthen local governance and security by encouraging better cooperation between the civilian population and the defense and security forces (FDS).
The representative of the NGO COGINTA, Konan Constant, expressed his gratitude to the various community leaders for their interest in peace. "Security is essential for the cohesion and development of our city. It's important that we come and pass on the right message to our parents so that together we can work to strengthen our security", he asserted.
The Kong sub-prefect, Traoré Tchéssakanan, went on to stress the importance of this meeting, which he felt would help break down the wall of mistrust between the civilian population and the FDS.
"We can't envisage development without security. We need to discuss to find solutions together, hence the good cohabitation between populations and FDS", he said.
Dao Souleymane, General Secretary of the civil-military cell, praised the NGO's unfailing support for actions to strengthen peace and coexistence. To this end, he invited community leaders and religious guides to continue raising awareness to ensure that trust reigns between populations.
Since November 2023, the NGO COGINTA has been supporting the activities of the civil-military cell in Kong. A CCM headquarters is under construction to ensure lasting security and enhanced peace in the area.
