Burkina Faso/Association Beoog-Neeré du Ganzourgou: Goats and soil and water conservation equipment for 160 households
160 households benefited from the helping hand extended by the Association Beoog-Neeré du Ganzourgou (ABNG), in partnership with Solidar Suisse, this Wednesday, March 12, 2025. The first 80 received goats. The other 80 received water and soil conservation equipment. With this gesture, ABNG intends to work towards strengthening the resilience of populations and improving their living conditions. The donation ceremony was presided over by the High Commissioner of Ganzourgou Province, represented by his Secretary General, Harouna Karambiri.
The donation is part of the Renforcement des moyens d'existence des populations des régions du Plateau central et du Centre-ouest affectées par les chocs climatiques et la crise sécuritaire (RENFORCE) project, which has been running since January 2025. "It's raining less and less. With this gesture, we are offering equipment to retain water, which will be used for agriculture. In addition, we're providing goats for breeding, which, as we all know, contribute to the country's development. If the beneficiaries do it right, it can be beneficial to them", explained Issouf Sissao, president of the institution.
For the Secretary General of the province, who carried the High Commissioner's message, the action taken by ABNG, which is not its first initiative, is commendable. "Land is not extensible. The same land that has been farmed for twenty years needs to be enriched. This is what the agricultural offensive is all about. Moreover, by enabling each person to benefit from four goats, we are helping to improve people's living conditions. With the support they receive, the beneficiaries will be able, in two or even three years' time, to have a sizeable herd of goats," says Harouna Karambiri.
For the beneficiaries, these gifts will indeed bring them relief, for if their living conditions were not very appreciable, they say they have faith that the situation will be reversed. "We didn't have all this before. But with these animals, we'll be able to work better to improve our families' situation. We're going to take care of them, because the principle is that in two years' time, we too will be able to help other people, just as others have helped us today," promised Bernard Rouamba, beneficiary of four goats.
"Before, it wasn't easy. But with what we received today, we're going to raise them well to help others too in the years to come. We're really happy! As women, ABNG has taken a thorn out of our side. We can only say thank you for everything they do for us", exclaimed Balkissa Balma, a member of the Teega Wendé association. It should be remembered that the choice of beneficiaries was made on the basis of the cooperatives working in collaboration with ABNG. This time, members of eight cooperatives were selected and trained in the proper use of the equipment donated to them.
