Chad: strengthening sexual health skills, gender training in N'Djamena
The Ministry of Public Health and Prevention, in partnership with Agence Française de Développement (AFD), through the Chad Health Sector Support Project (PASST3), launched a training course on gender and sexual health rights on March 4, 2025.
The training is aimed at midwives and maieuticians from N'Djamena's revitalized health centers, as well as members of the Chadian Association of Midwives and Maieuticians. In his opening remarks, Mohamed Alassane Toure, representative of AFD and team leader of the PASST3 project, emphasized that midwives give life.
"It's a noble job that you do, but this work will be even more valued if it is carried out in conditions that respect human rights, in a humanized setting, where women, girls and adolescents feel encouraged to frequent health structures to access all, services without discrimination. We would like to express our gratitude to the National Project Management Unit".
For his part, Dr Djabar Hamid, coordinator of CNGD PASST3, recalled that this training represents a unique opportunity to deepen understanding of gender issues in the field of reproductive health. It is also essential for identifying the contours of ethical care and care that respects rights.
"By integrating a gender-sensitive approach, we can better meet the specific needs of women and girls, guarantee them equitable access to care, and improve their well-being.
The gender approach is not limited to gender equality; it also aims to identify and correct inequalities that may exist in access to care, in the quality of services provided, and in interactions between professionals and beneficiaries. By taking these aspects into account, we are working not only for a more efficient healthcare system, but also for a fairer society.
During these three days of training, you will have the opportunity to exchange, learn and strengthen your skills in order to better understand gender issues and explore concrete strategies for integrating them into your practice. We hope that this workshop will provide you with practical tools and enriching reflections that will enable you to be agents of change within your respective structures".
The training, which began on Tuesday March 4, 2025 in N'Djamena, will end on March 6, 2025 in a local hotel.
