Germany - Côte d'Ivoire/Decentralized cooperation: Bouaké and Reutlingen strengthen their twinning arrangement
On a one-week working visit to Bouaké since Thursday February 27, a strong delegation from the city of Reutlingen (Germany) led by its mayor, Thomas Kick, met Bouaké's municipal team, headed by mayor Amadou Koné, on Saturday February 1 and Sunday February 2, 2025.
Discussions focused on the "Bouaké Nouveau" project and the strengthening of the partnership between the two towns. Reutlingen, Bouaké's twin city since 1970, is keen to play its full part in Bouaké's development under the leadership of Mayor Amadou Koné."We came to see the progress made by the city of Bouaké since the election of Mayor Amadou Koné.We also came to learn about the 'Bouaké Nouveau' project, with a view to strengthening the winning partnership between Bouaké and Reutlingen," explained Mayor Thomas Keck.He said he was impressed by Mayor Amadou Koné's commitment to the stability and modernization of Bouaké. He also recalled the impact of the "Bouaké ville durable" project, which trains Ivorian teachers in Germany in solar energy and the installation of photovoltaic panels.On this occasion, Amadou Koné, surrounded by his colleagues, presented the commune's major projects, including the new city hotel, the industrial zone and education and training initiatives. Amadou Koné also spoke of the need to send municipal staff to Reutlingen for training. He also emphasized the importance of food security for employment and the well-being of local residents.
