Canada/Alma launches its new family policy
On Friday morning, the City of Alma unveiled its new family policy, which aims to adapt and enhance municipal services to better meet the changing needs of families. It includes actions that will run until 2027.
The policy replaces the one introduced in 2010. It was presented at a press conference at La Nichée, in Alma, where some twenty employees were present.
According to Alma's mayor, Sylvie Beaumont, a strong city depends on happy families.
New facilities to come
A number of concrete measures are planned, including the construction of an outdoor pool and a four-season changing room at Parc Saint-Sacrement.
New facilities will also be added to Parc de la Pointe-des-Américains.
We'll be developing an interpretive trail, and it's clear that families of all generations will enjoy exploring Pointe-des-Américains. Pointe-des-Américains, which has been under development for several years now," says Alma city councillor Audrée Villeneuve.
The town is keen to offer activities that focus on its local population, not just tourism.
Families love it when they have access to activities close to home, so developing more block parties corresponds directly to families' needs," says the city councillor.
