The meeting brought together national and international experts, government representatives and civil society players, who discussed maintaining the balance of ecosystems, food security in the Congo, and preserving biodiversity in order to anticipate the effects of climate change.balance of ecosystems, food security in the Congo, and the preservation of biodiversity in order to anticipate the effects of climate change.

Participants drew inspiration from the CMB, a program that aims to support countries' transition by developing concrete, effective solutions for biodiversity conservation, and by focusing on rapid, targeted action to concentrate the immediate threats to ecosystems. They drew up a list of priority actions to be implemented to meet local biodiversity challenges.

Among the priorities identified were the sustainable management of natural resources, the protection of protected areas and the development of solutions for adapting to the effects of climate change. They also suggested synergies for biodiversity conservation initiatives and sustainable development sectors such as agriculture, forestry and renewable energies.

This interactive session enabled participants to share best practices and develop strategies for implementing concrete short-term initiatives. The UNDP, through its representative in the Republic of Congo, reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the country in the development of local projects and initiatives for biodiversity management. The UN agency stressed the need for adequate funding and rigorous monitoring to ensure the success of the actions undertaken. In this respect, proposals were made to facilitate access to international funds and strengthen the capacities of national and local authorities in natural resource management.

This workshop represents a decisive step in the implementation of the Early action support project, marking the start of a series of concrete actions to preserve biodiversity in the Congo. This project is in line with the global commitments made at COP15, in particular the "Decade of Ecosystem Restoration " and the objectives of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Congo and its international partners will be able to meet the challenges of preserving its biodiversity, while contributing to global efforts to protect nature and combat climate change. The Congolese authorities, in collaboration with the UNDP, will continue to work towards the implementation of immediate actions to preserve a better future.
