An awareness-raising workshop on non-discrimination based on gender and the management of the gender dimension in the workplace opened on Thursday for company human resources managers and staff representatives from the Tambacounda region.

The aim of this workshop is to disseminate best practices and raise awareness among employee representatives, who represent workers, as well as human resources managers, who are responsible for corporate governance.Demba Diop, technical advisor at the German International Development Cooperation (GIZ) agency, said: "The aim of this workshop is to disseminate best practices and raise awareness among employee representatives, who represent workers, as well as human resources managers, who are responsible for corporate governance, so that they take into account all aspects of gender and the fight against inequality.

Demba Diop was speaking on the bangs of a workshop organized by the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Relations with Institutions, in partnership with the GIZ's Ensemble vers la réforme du travail project and the Eastern Axis (Tambacounda & Kédougou) of the Labor Inspectorate.

The main aim of these two days of training is to raise awareness of gender issues among stakeholders, create a framework for social dialogue focused on rights and the promotion of gender equality, and to promote the use of gender equality in the workplace. rights and the promotion of gender equality and equity in labor and social protection from the perspective of a systemic and inclusive approach.

Among the results expected from the workshop are actions to improve conditions for women in the workplace, and a series of activities to combat discrimination and promote a gender approach in the workplace.

Diarryatou Ndiaye, deputy governor of the Tambacounda region, in charge of development, praised the organization of this training session for the benefit of labor actors in the Eastern Senegal region.She stressed the need to reinforce social protection and the fight against gender inequality.

She invited the beneficiaries of this training to act as relays to popularize its achievements. "All workers in general should benefit from this kind of workshop (...). Staff representatives and human resources managers must act as relays to share the knowledge received within companies", she said.
