SENEGAL-SANTE-INFRASTRUCTURES / Touba: the Serigne Saliou Mbacké health center gets two new buildings

On Saturday, managers at the Serigne Saliou Mbacké health center in the Touba 28 district of central Touba took delivery of two new buildings to house a number of services designed to improve health care.

The buildings comprise a maternity unit, an operating theater, a pediatric ward, a radiology unit and an ophthalmology unit.radiology unit and an ophthalmology unit, at an estimated cost of over 160 million CFA francs.

"The work on these buildings took five years because of limited financial resources," said Dr Modou Fatou Diouf, head physician of the Serigne Saliou Mbacké health center, at the inauguration.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by members of the Comité de développement sanitaire (CDS), religious authorities, local populations and health workers.

Dr Diouf pointed out that the buildings were constructed by the CDS using resources collected by the health structure.

The Chief Medical Officer took advantage of the ceremony to call on the Ministry of Health to equip these new services with medical equipment and nursing staff to provide better care for the population.
