Togo: 13 billion FCFA for road maintenance in 2025, against a backdrop of annual decline
In Togo, the government is entering 2025 with a reduced road maintenance budget, down from 16.5 billion FCFA in 2024 to 13.3 billion FCFA, a drop of almost 20%.
The forecasts for this year were presented at a programming workshop organized in Lomé by the Ministry of Public Works, held on December 31, 2024 and January 1, 2025, and chaired by the Minister responsible, Sani Yaya.
Real needs estimated at 41 billion FCFA
During the meeting, the Minister stressed the importance of defining strategic priorities based on the condition of national roads. As a result, the real needs for road network maintenance are estimated at 41 billion FCFA, reports the state-owned daily Togo Presse. In detail, national road N°1 tops the list of priorities for 2025, followed by transverse axes and the rehabilitation of critical points on the network.
User satisfaction survey?
At the same time, innovative measures such as a user satisfaction survey are envisaged to assess the effectiveness of the works and better meet citizens' expectations. Indeed, for the Minister, "it would be good to introduce a user satisfaction survey on a certain number of sections, so that we can help ourselves to keep improving ".
