France/Forest management: Fédération des Parcs Naturels Régionaux and FSC France sign partnership agreement
The aim of the alliance is to improve the preservation and sustainable development of forest resources.
The partnership between the two organizations was signed on December 19, 2024.
It is the logical continuation of the reciprocal membership between the Federation and the FSC France association - the Federation having joined the governance of FSC France last October -, and FSC France, which is due to become a member of the Federation in December 2024. It also comes just days after the Parc Naturel Régional des Boucles de la Seine Normande was awarded FSC forest management certification.
The partnership will enable joint actions to be taken to promote regional cooperation, preserve forest biodiversity and develop certified local wood products.
For over fifty years, France's Regional Nature Parks, which comprise 59 parks throughout the country, have been working to manage and preserve the country's natural, cultural and landscape heritage, support regional development and promote environmentally-friendly resource management.
" Our two organizations are convinced that concerted action is the most pragmatic way of making accepted, operational and effective decisions, in the context of an uncertain future subject to the effects of climate change", said the two bodies in a press release.
