China/Beijing: International symposium to celebrate the 60ᵉ anniversary of Franco-Chinese diplomatic relations and training seminar for French teachers.

180 French teachers, deans of French departments in universities and schools, gathered at an international colloquium to celebrate the 60ᵉ anniversary of Franco-Chinese diplomatic relations and French teacher training seminar. These events were held on November 22 and 23 at Beijing Foreign Language University, in partnership with the French Embassy in China, to mark International French Teachers' Day.

Among the participants were Prof. Cao Deming, President of the Chinese Federation of Teachers of French, Ms. Cynthia Eid, President of the International Federation of Teachers of French, Prof. Nicolas Mainetti, Regional Director of the AUF - Asia-Pacific and all the speakers, some of whom came specially from France. The objectives of these events were to:

  • Commemorate six decades of Franco-Chinese cooperation and cultural dialogue.
  • Promote Franco-Chinese cultural and educational exchanges through conferences and discussions.
  • Offer specialized training for teachers to improve their teaching practices in French as a foreign language.
  • To explore issues and new pedagogical approaches for French in multicultural contexts.

Speakers from a variety of backgrounds pooled their practical and theoretical expertise in language didactics at this national pedagogical seminar. Organized by Beijing Foreign Language University (BFSU), in collaboration with the French Embassy in China, the event strengthened academic exchanges and partnerships in the field of language teaching.
