France/ The Region strengthens its support for Armenia with new twinning agreements
The Auvergne Rhône-Alpes region welcomed an Armenian delegation on Thursday November 21, marking a new stage in its partnership with Armenia. Six twinning agreements were signed between towns in the French region and in Armenian Syunik, reinforcing the ties of cooperation.
The Auvergne Rhône-Alpes Region reaffirms its commitment to Armenia by signing six twinning agreements with the Syunik region. This initiative is part of a humanitarian support plan adopted in October 2022, initially endowed with 300,000 euros and recently doubled to 600,000 euros.
Multi-dimensional support
The partnership between Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and Syunik focuses on several priority areas: health (support for the healthcare system and emergency management), agriculture (development and food sovereignty), training (support for young people), tourism(skills development) and the French-speaking community (development of cultural events and French-language training in Kapan).
Five new twinning agreements were signed, notably between Tegh and Mornant, Meghri and Bron, and the renewal of cooperation between Goris and Vienne. These partnerships aim to develop cultural cooperation and embody the shared values of both regions.
"Serving the development of Syunik
"We're taking on this partnership with the same clarity and serenity as we have considerable assets in these fields, which have enabled us to prevail at national level. This same know-how, supported by the expertise of our regional departments, is what we are putting at the service of Syunik's development", explains Fabrice Pannekoucke, President of the Region, in a press release.
