The town of Saumur, in partnership with a number of local players, is organizing an awareness-raising day to combat violence against women.

The town of Saumur (Maine-et-Loire), in partnership with a number of local players, is organizing an awareness-raising day to combat violence against women, on Monday November 25, 2024, at the Château de Saumur.

Workshops for the general public

Workshops open to all will be held from 6pm to 8pm.

• Workshop "Se connaître, se respecter"
  Raising awareness of respect for the body and consent with Virginie Texier-Cottenet (midwife) and Delphine Goislot (facilitator at the sexual health center).
• Legal self-defense
  How to defend yourself legally against violence with France victimes.
• Bingo du Love on violence in love with Solidarités femmes.

• ZAP les idées reçues!
  Creation of an Anti-Prejudice Zone on violence in sport and the home.
  Speakers: OS L'Association and professionals from the Maison départementale des solidarités.
• Quiz on equality in sport
  Speakers: Centre social Jacques Percereau and the association Profession sports et loisirs.

By gathering around workshops, testimonials and interactive spaces, the City of Saumur and its partners hope to open a dialogue on how to prevent such violence and strengthen existing support resources.

Specific workshops for high school students will also be organized.

Last but not least, Charline Van Snick, former Belgian Olympic judoka, will talk about her career and her commitment to combating violence.A victim of domestic violence herself, Charline is actively involved in raising awareness among young people and athletes, using social networks and conferences to convey a message of hope and equality.

Her testimony at the morning "Zap les idées reçues" workshop will provide an opportunity to tackle themes that are often overlooked, such as violence in the sporting world and resilience through sport.
