Togo: Soya marketing campaign, 25% rise in price per kilo
The soybean marketing campaign for the 2024-2025 season was officially launched in Togo on Friday, October 25, in Atakpamé (about 160 km north of Lomé). This year, the price per kilogram of soya has been set at 250 FCFA, a 25% increase on last season's price of 200 FCFA per kilogram.
This new tariff is the fruit of consultation between the main players in the sector, notably the Fédération nationale des coopératives productrices de soja (FNCPS), the Association togolaise des transformateurs de soja (ATTS), and the Association nationale des commerçants-exportateurs du soja (ANCES). The agreement reached between these players, they argue, will help to ensure fair marketing, integrating the interests of each group in the value chain.
" We are committed to ensuring better marketing that takes into account the interests of every player in the value chain. To this end, we have organized a preliminary consultation to set a floor price for field sales, taking into account the operating costs of each player ", explained Koriko Mounirou, President of the Interprofessional Council of the Soybean Sector (CIFS-Togo).
In the new season, 200,000 tonnes of soybeans will be marketed, compared with around 260,200 tonnes in 2023. Stakeholders hope that this stability in sales quantities will ensure fair incomes throughout the production chain.
