On Thursday evening, October 17, Coulanges-sur-Yonne was honored twice at the Cité 89 trade show in Auxerre, in recognition of the various initiatives undertaken by local authorities in the region.
It was awarded the Marianne de l'Yonne, Prix Coup de cœur du jury, by the Association des maires de France (AMF 89).
The municipality also received an award from Yonne Tourisme, in the category for municipalities with 501 to 1,000 inhabitants, for the implementation of a strategic landscaping plan for the town center. As a reward, the municipality received a tree. Marcel Chevillon says he is very proud of the work accomplished during the redevelopment of the Place Sainte-Anne. "Work and effort are always recognized in the end," he says.
The€255,000project has seen this emblematic area of the town center, badly damaged by the bombardments of the Second World War, decked out in greenery. The work, which is now complete, has also given pedestrians more space in the very heart of the small village, which is close to the Nièvre region and a member of the Haut Nivernais val d'Yonne Community of Municipalities.
Most notably, Coulanges-sur-Yonne has also been nominated for the Villes et Villages fleuris (one flower) label in 2025 by the departmental jury. "So, yes, it really was a wonderful evening for our commune! "concluded the chief magistrate.
