Over thirty representatives from various sectors gathered at a consultative workshop on the National Student Entrepreneur Status (SNEE), organized by AUF on October 21-22, 2024 at the Cambodian Institute of Technology. The event brought together government officials, academics, institutional partners and international experts to co-construct an entrepreneurial framework for Cambodian students.

At the opening ceremony, H.E. OM Romny, Secretary of State of Cambodia's Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, said: "The National Student Entrepreneur Status (SNEE) represents a vital opportunity for the country's students. This program aims to empower the younger generation and encourage them to actively contribute to the Cambodian economy. "

This workshop to operationalize the SNEE was based on two main objectives:

  • To discuss the proposed text for its institutionalization, while focusing on legal, operational and financial aspects ;
  • Examine and validate the roadmap for its implementation with the collaboration of universities, political decision-makers and industry experts.

The adoption of the SNEE aims to stimulate student entrepreneurship, in alignment with Cambodia's Vision 2050 for economic growth based on innovation and knowledge-based industries. The proposed roadmap sets out a 5-year strategy for its deployment within accredited higher education institutions.

The ENTREPRENDRE program is seen as an essential tool for providing students with the skills they need to integrate into the professional world and succeed in their careers. By encouraging job creation, stimulating innovation and developing leaders, this program is helping to shape a promising future for Cambodia.

In conclusion, this consultative workshop highlighted the commitment of education stakeholders to promoting entrepreneurship among students and providing them with the resources they need to turn their ideas into viable projects. Together, by cultivating innovation and inspiring success, the various stakeholders hope to work together towards a better future for Cambodia, one marked by opportunity and progress.
