On Thursday October 17, 2024, the gendarmerie and the Ille-et-Vilaine département signed an agreement to strengthen their partnership. The focus will be on preventive measures for vulnerable people and protection of community buildings.

"Signing an agreement is not the beginning of an action," sums up Jean-Luc Chenut, President of the Ille-et-Vilaine département. On Thursday October 17, 2024, the Gendarmerie and the Département signed an agreement to formalize the terms and conditions of their joint work.

The partnership is structured around four key areas, as detailed by Colonel Xavier Wargnier: "Firstly, to reinforce the consideration and protection of vulnerable people, in particular victims of sexual violence, and to promote preventive actions for senior citizens and people with disabilities. Secondly, to reinforce preventive actions adapted to the construction and renovation of secondary schools, as well as the safety of the staff who work there.

The agreement also aims to "facilitate the handling of threats or tensions made against the Department's personnel in the exercise of their duties (elective or administrative) and to respond to risks linked to the safety of the Department's facilities."

Final section: "To improve mutual knowledge between the two institutions, in particular by encouraging the entry of Department officers into the Gendarmerie reserve."
