Hung Yên (North) is set to develop rapidly and sustainably into a modern industrial province with one of the country's leading economies and levels of development. This is part of its master plan for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, recently approved by the Prime Minister.

This involves urban economic development, with a chain of urban zones interconnected with central zones, as well as the construction of social housing, particularly for workers.

According to Nguyên Hùng Nam, vice-chairman of the Hung Yên People's Committee, the province's urbanization rate should reach between 60 and 65% by 2030, and around 80% by 2050. The three main urban areas will be Hung Yên city, as well as the urban areas of Van Giang and My Hào.

Hung Yên city will become the province's administrative center. To the north, it will link up with Kim Dông district to promote the development of ecological urban zones and tourism along the Red River. To the east, it will connect with Tiên Lu district to develop services, science, training and start-up centers.

The Van Giang urban area will become an urban center of the north, oriented towards ecological, intelligent and modern development. It is seen as a nerve center for exchanges with Hanoi and the key economic region of the north, the Red River delta and the country as a whole.

The My Hào urban area will also be a northern urban center, with a focus on urban industry, commercial services and housing, while adopting intelligent, modern concepts.

According to Nguyên Van Tuân, Chairman of the Van Giang District People's Committee, the area is developing rapidly with several housing investment projects, such as Dream City (approx. 450 ha), the Xuân Câu ecological garden home project (198 ha), and the Dai An and Bach Giang urban areas.

It's worth noting that the Ecopark urban zone was recognized in 2022 as the best sustainable housing development project in Asia. This project respects nature and local ecological conditions, while integrating science and technology into its infrastructure to reduce investment costs.

Its presence has profoundly transformed the locality, particularly the Van Giang district, where the urbanization rate has increased sevenfold. The local economy has also gradually shifted from agriculture to industry and services, in line with the development of green and smart urban zones.

Currently, Van Giang has eight major urban development investment projects, covering a total area of around 2,200 ha and accommodating some 260,000 inhabitants. These projects are complemented by the presence of academic institutions such as Hanoi Open University, British University Vietnam (BUV) and Tokyo Medical University. The creation of these institutions will enable Van Giang to become a fully functional urban area in the near future.

At present, Van Giang is mobilizing investment capital to rapidly complete some key projects, while accelerating the release of land to facilitate the launch of transport projects and industrial zones. The aim is to make Van Giang a3rd category urban zone by 2025.
