Canada has announced C$350,000 in financial aid for flood victims in Mali.
The Canadian Embassy in Mali has announced a financial contribution of C$400,000 to "Plan International Canada" to support 5,000 Malians affected by flooding in Mali. This aid will last about 6 months, said a press release from the Canadian Embassy in Mali.
" In response to the consequences of the severe flooding in Mali, Canada is pleased to announce a financial contribution of CAN$400,000 to flood victims in Mali," reads the release. The intervention consists of emergency assistance in the water, sanitation and hygiene sectors, as well as the distribution of cash and multi-purpose non-food items.
The Sahelian country of Mali has been hard hit by flooding caused by torrential rains since August 1, 2024. Seventy-five (75) civilians died, 148 were injured and 250,305 were affected as of September 27, 2024, according to the National Coordination for Crisis and Natural Disaster Management.
