France/ In this community of communes, a partnership to encourage carpooling
The elected representatives of the Loir Lucé Bercé community of communes (Sarthe) have announced the launch of a partnership with BlaBlaCar Daily, a digital tool to promote carpooling.
Since September 16, 2024, the Loir Lucé Bercé communauté de communes has been financially supporting the development of carpooling on its territory. It encourages motorists to share their daily journeys with the BlaBlaCar Daily application. Thanks to this aid, the journey becomes free for the passenger, and drivers will receive between €1.50 and €3 per journey and per passenger for journeys of between 5 and 60 km.
Transport in the countryside: mobility, an obstacle to recruitment
As part of our simplified mobility plan for the region, we have signed up for one year to the BlaBlaCar Daily platform promoted by the Pays de la Loire Region. This is an environmental, economic and social initiative. To benefit from the assistance of the communauté de communes, you have to be a local resident", explains Galiène Cohu, the vice-president in charge of the project. We have informed the HR managers of local companies to discuss this subject. We need to share this scheme with companies, because mobility can be an obstacle to recruiting for unfilled positions", adds Chairman Hervé Roncière.
A bonus for drivers and how does it work?
As part of the national plan for everyday car-sharing, drivers can benefit from a €100 bonus for sharing ten home-work journeys on the application for the first time," adds Benjamine Dupire, the scheme's local authority partnership manager.
BlaBlaCar is an alternative to public transport, as some companies are hiring very early. We'll be holding meetings with companies to set up the scheme," adds Denys Wissler, head of the Loir-Lucé-Bercé region's economic and digital development unit.
Conditions
Passengers and drivers must download the BlaBlaCar Daily application, indicating their name, home address and destination. The application then connects members taking the same route at the same times.
