The official launch of the Precika vocational training project for out-of-school and vulnerable young people in the Kouilou department took place on October 3 at the Pointe-Noire Chamber of Commerce, in the presence of Jean Blaise Dello, mayor of the urban community of Hinda in the Kouilou department.

The Precika project run by the Groupement des électriciens du Congo (GEC), with technical and financial support from the French Embassy in Congo, is a unique initiative. Its aim is to promote the employability of 40 vulnerable young people in the Kouilou region, including 11 girls, in the building electricity and renewable energies sector, particularly solar power." It covers the Hinda-Mvouti and Loango-Madingo-Kayes axes. Its overall cost is 27,897,500 FCFA, of which 25,103,500 FCFA is subsidized by the French Embassy.

The project will also offer a series of training courses on leadership, governance and associative dynamics to young people, with a view to setting up and managing an association of artisan electricians from Congo in Kouilou. It will also train young people in entrepreneurship and support them in setting up their own businesses in the electricity sector in Kouilou. Edith Makanga and Séraphin Lomba, respectively Departmental Director of Youth in Kouilou and Departmental Director of Qualifying Training and Employment in Kouilou, were delighted with the opportunities and advantages offered to young people. After thanking the initiators of the project and those involved in its implementation, they urged young people to be assiduous in attending the free training courses that will make them self-sufficient tomorrow: "Knowledge is a priceless treasure. Every effort made today will bear fruit tomorrow. Today, we open a new page in continuing and qualifying education. Your success will give rise to new vocations and a new enthusiasm among the school dropouts who populate our neighborhoods. I'm convinced that at the end of your training, the harvest will live up to our expectations", said the mayor of the urban community of Hinda.

Several activities have already been carried out since the project began. These include an awareness-raising and mobilization campaign for young people in Hinda, Loango and Madingo-Kayes, the organization of an extraordinary general meeting to select endogenous trainers, and the launch of a new project.lection of endogenous trainers, technical training for young people in building electricity and solar energy, organization of the first meeting of the project steering Claude Pouandy from Loango and Loemba Batchi from Madingo-Kayes told the audience about the valuable lessons they had learnt since the beginning of the training courses.before thanking the project's initiators, who also symbolically presented work kits (work clothes, pliers, multimeters, screwdrivers, safety shoes, etc.) to two learners. to two trainees.

The GEC is a non-profit self-organization of electricians and electronics technicians. It was set up as part of the Crafts and Small Business Promotion Project, implemented by the technical department of the German Cooperation (GTZ) from 1995 to 2001. After several years of lethargy and informal operation, the GEC took a fresh look at itself and initiated the regulatory steps for its official formalization, which took place on May 15, 2018 at the Ministry of the Interior. To date, it has 33 active artisan electricians and electrical technicians as members.
