Cameroon/Start-up 237: 100 projects made in Cameroon - The handover of equipment continues
In Douala, Limbé, Maroua, Ngaoundéré and Yaoundé, young companies selected as part of the Start-up 237 project are receiving equipment to help accelerate their business development.
" Start-up 237: 100 projects made in Camer " was launched in October 2023 with the aim of contributing to the employability of young Cameroonians, through support for the creation of entrepreneurial projects or their consolidation.
The handover of equipment to beneficiaries began in July 2024. It is progressing steadily. The equipment includes computer and office equipment, agri-food production equipment such as wine-making machines, processing and packaging machines, sound and energy equipment, medical equipment and rolling stock.
Hayatou Gouroudja is a student engineer in animal production and aquaculture at the École nationale supérieure polytechnique of the University of Maroua. Co-promoter of SYAUDEC, a start-up specializing in biotechnology and animal nutrition for sustainable livestock farming, he asserts: " The equipment provided has enabled our company to be competitive on the market, by intensifying its activity. Today, we have total control over the bovine reproductive chain, from insemination to the production of high-quality adult animals".
According to Adrien Guy Lagrange, Computer Engineering Engineer at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure Polytechnique of the University of Douala: " We now have more efficient and productive equipment for our work. With the computer equipment, our network communication is wider internally, and we can now continue to work despite power cuts thanks to the generator". Adrien heads up Genuises Innovative Solutions, a technology transfer acceleration company.
The 100 start-ups involved, 50 from universities and 50 from the private sector, operate in the agri-food, digital, cultural and creative industries. They benefit from triple support: an acceleration fund giving them access to equipment, a system of ongoing mentoring by local and international experts, the creation of partnerships between French and Cameroonian incubators and universities in both countries.
