Benin/Toy-making and games training: JICA and 2A2BJ equip the RUP and CO-RUP of Parakou 2

This Saturday, September 14, 2024, the office of the Amicale des anciens bénéficiaires de bourses japonaises (2A2BJ) organized a training session on games and toy-making for educational unit managers (RUP) and educational unit co-managers (CO-RUP) from Parakou school district 2. The training program is supported technically and financially by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA-Benin).

The official launch of the training took place at the Ecole primaire publique Ocbn in Parakou's first arrondissement.representative of Jica-Bénin, the representative of the departmental director of nursery and primary education, and the president of Amicale 2A2BJ. To strengthen the skills of nursery and elementary school organizers in carrying out play activities. This is the aim of the training course on games and toy making. Launching the training course, Comlan François Yehouenou, representative of the Borgou Departmental Director of Nursery and Primary Education, said and hoped that it would be duplicated throughout the country. While expressing his gratitude to 2A2BJ and JICA, he urged participants to follow the various modules carefully so as to get the most out of them.

In her speech, Gisèle Alapini Kakpo, President of 2A2BJ, introduced the Amicale, pointing out that play is a means for children to develop their intelligence through "physical, intellectual and social tools". Play, which is a means of expression and assembly, justifies the convergence of various research studies that make play the basis for building a child's affective security, she continued. She thanked JICA and expressed the wish that the partnership would continue to be fruitful for the happiness of the communities.

Juidi Sato, JICA Benin's Project Training Advisor, said that this was the first time a 2A2BJ activity had been carried out in the North. He pointed out that extensive research shows that learning through play offers many benefits for children's cognitive, emotional, social, physical, linguistic, creative and cultural development and education. He congratulated 2A2BJ for overcoming the challenge of distance by carrying out this activity in Parakou in northern Benin.
