Since yesterday, Monday July 22, 2024, in Dassa-Zoumè, Collines department, a capacity-building workshop for stakeholders has been taking place to ensure greater success for the field phase of the Community Report Card on Sustainable Development Goals in the education sector (BCP-ODD4). It is organized by the Network of Non-Governmental Organizations for the Sustainable Development Goals (RODD).

The workshop was launched in the presence of the various players involved in implementing the BCP ODD 4, the President of the Rodd, Carmen Gaba, the local mayor, Oscar DJIGBENOUDE, and the Prefect of Collines, Saliou Odoubou. Several presentations were on the agenda. But first, participants were treated to the opening ceremony of the two-day workshop.

At the outset, the mayor of Dassa-Zoumè, Oscar DJIGBENOUDE, thanked the Réseau des Organisations Non Gouvernementales pour les Objectifs du Développement Durable (RODD) for having chosen his town. Dassa-Zoumè is particularly honored," he said, "because thanks to the BCP ODD 4, a great deal of progress will be made in the education sector, and we are ready to support the various players in the process of developing this tool. Taking the floor, Carmen Gaba, President of Rodd, pointed out that the CCA is increasingly emerging as one of the best social tools for assessing the accountability contained in the Agenda 2030 adopted by UN member states in September 2015 with a view to the successful implementation of the SDG targets by 2030.

"Benin has thus, since last year, had the opportunity to experiment with this valuable tool in order to assess the added value of the SDGs at local level. This justifies the support provided by ANCB, initiated by the NGO Network for Sustainable Development Goals (RODD) to promote the integration and acceleration of good practices in the education sector", she said. She indicated that the BCP ODD 4 will last five (05) months.

The process will focus on a global, inclusive and innovative approach to further develop the education sector, with a view to improving services for all stakeholders. The Ministries in charge of education, which are the strategic poles of national education policy, have a lot to share in terms of technical experience with the PCO. We are determined to work with the communes to promote our common objective, which is the Plan Conjoint d'Amélioration des Services (PCAS)," concluded Carmen Gaba. These words were endorsed by the ANCB representative and the Préfet des Collines. The latter, in launching the proceedings, congratulated the various players involved in the development of this highly innovative tool.

The Community Performance Report Card on Sustainable Development Goals in the education sector (Bcp-Odd 4) has been launched for implementation in three communes, namely Cotonou, a commune with special status status, Dassa-Zoumé, a commune with intermediate status, and Aguégués, a commune with ordinary status; as well as in the two sector ministries in charge of primary and secondary education. The Bcp-Odd approach is based on two actors, namely the agent (executive power) and the principal (population).

Bcp-Odd is not only a tool for accountability, but also for performance. It also enables better collaboration between local players through the Joint Service Improvement Plan. Several presentations were made to the various participants by the Direction Générale du Suivi des ODD, the firm selected to develop the tool, .....The BCP ODD 4 was launched on Tuesday July 2 in Cotonou by Yves Kouaro Chabi, Minister of Secondary and Technical Education and Vocational Training.
