Thanks to this new incentive program, property owners can benefit from financial assistance to cover part of the cost of purchasing a tree on their property. The amount granted by the City is calculated according to the size of the tree at maturity, depending on the species, and to encourage local purchases.

The new regulations concerning tree planting and felling affect the ratio of the minimum number of trees to be planted or preserved on different types of land, including the most densely planted.rents, including the residential sector; rules governing tree planting and felling; and the presence of green islands in parking lots.

In addition, in order to comply with the Act respecting land use planning and development, which applies throughout the province, the City of Sorel-Tracy has had to increase the fines that will be imposed on those who fail to comply with the new regulations.
