Togo/Kara: INAM raises awareness at AMU and offers free consultations
On July 13, the Institut national d'assurance maladie (INAM) launched a campaign of free medical consultations and awareness-raising about universal health insurance (AMU) in the Kara region. The operation is being organized in conjunction with the traditional Evala festival, and is due to end on July 21.
The initiative follows a similar operation organized in Greater Lomé last May. In Kara, INAM is focusing on offering health care to the population. In addition to free medical consultations, the institute is offering the population the opportunity to undergo screening tests for high blood pressure and diabetes, as well as to receive health advice.
Through this campaign, INAM aims to obtain reliable health data on vulnerable people. The information gathered from beneficiaries will enable the institute to better implement the medical assistance scheme provided for in the AMU project.
The campaign, it is reported, is part of INAM's drive to extend universal health insurance coverage to the whole of Togo, and to strengthen its presence in the field in order to establish a bond of trust with local communities.
