Algeria/Alger: commissioning of several energy infrastructures
In a press release issued on Monday, the Sonelgaz group announced the commissioning of several "major" energy projects in response to the growing demand for electricity, particularly during the summer months.
"As part of the implementation of a series of commitments made by Sonelgaz concerning the reinforcement of the electricity transmission network, in particular those included in the program to prepare for the summer of 2024, and in response to the high demand for energy recorded in the capital, the Sonelgaz group has proceeded, via its subsidiary Electricity Transmission and System Operator (S-TOS), with the commissioning of several projects. the high demand for energy in the capital, the Sonelgaz Group has commissioned several energy projects through its subsidiary, S-TOS (Transport de l'électricité et Opérateur du système).
The action plan for reinforcing the electricity transmission network in the capital involved several projects, such as electrical transformation centers and high-voltage power lines," said the same source. 11 energy infrastructures have been commissioned, and work on other power plants is progressing at an "accelerated" pace.
In this context, an electrical transformer with a capacity of 300 Mvar was commissioned at the Larbaâ 400/220 kilovolt power transformation center, in addition to the launch of two electric lineslectric lines, 8 km long and with a capacity of 60 kilovolts, at the Larbaâ 220/60 kilovolt transfer center, and at the Larbaâ 220/60 kilovolt and Eucalyptus 1 and 2 electrical transformation centers.
In Bab El Oued, two power transformers, each with a capacity of 40 Mvar, were installed at the 10/60-kilovolt transformer station, with an interruption at the Bab El Oued transformer station for the 60-kilovolt underground power line, El Aurassi - Ben Aknoun (line length 3.5 km).
Two 60-kilovolt underground power lines were also installed at El Harrach 2 - Baraki Nord 1 and 2 (length of line 9 km), in addition to Sonelgaz's commissioning of two electric transformers with a power rating of 1,000 MW.In addition, Sonelgaz commissioned two electrical transformers, each with a capacity of 40 Mvar, at the Baraki Nord 10/60 kilovolt transformation center, as well as two other transformers of the same capacity at the 30/60 kilovolt Eucalyptus electrical transformation center.
Sonelgaz also connected the Aïn Benian and Dely Brahim transformation centers to an 8.5 km 220 kilovolt underground power line, and commissioned a mixed overhead/underground power line.a 60-kilovolt mixed overhead/underground power line, connecting the Zeralda transformer station to the Zeralda gas turbine power plant, over a length of 3.13 km.
The aim of this initiative is to strengthen and improve the power grid to guarantee quality of service in terms of supply and continuity, particularly in the Eucalyptus, Baraki and Bab El Oued areas, according to the press release.
