France

On July 4 and 5, 2024, a special federation is visiting Tarn-et-Garonne. It came to congratulate communes on their initiatives, which deserve to be nationalized.

The association Fédération Française des Trucs qui Marchent (FFTM) is touring France to find local initiatives that work and could work on a national scale.

Launched in 2022, the FFTM begins its "season 3" this year, with no less than 60,000 km covered and 300 elected representatives met. And it's stopping off in Tarn-et-Garonne on July 4 and 5, 2024! But why?

Local initiatives

The Federation's aim is to "identify and highlight local initiatives, led by elected representatives, that deserve to be duplicated throughout France".be duplicated throughout France", explain Raphaël Ruegger (23), a local councillor from Cher, and Théo Caviezel (27), a community activist from Haute-Marne, who initiated the project.

The common denominator of these "things that work" is that they change orimprove the daily lives of local residents, in areas as varied as housing, ecology, town planning, sport, mobility and heritage.

In Tarn-et-Garonne, there are two "initiatives that work". They have been highlighted by the Federation. Here they are.

In Cazes-Mondenard

Thanks to Bien Commun, the commune of Cazes-Mondenard will revitalize its territory. In a vacant house on avenue Mondenard, the aim is to recreate a short-circuit multi-service business, housing and services for local residents.

"The neighboring rural third place in the hangar will house spaces dedicated to economic development, with co-working and showroom facilities, as well as a multi-purpose room and a micro-craziness," say the town's departments.

In Lafrançaise

In Lafrançaise, aninclusive, shared housing project for senior citizens has been chosen. LafrançaiseIn Lafrançaise, a building is being renovated by the municipality to create ten housing units for independent seniors, single or couples, aged 65 and over. Common areas will include a communal garden, laundry facilities and a shared kitchen.

La Grande Soirée

After its visit to Tarn-et-Garonne on July 4 and 5, 2024, the Federation will continue its tour.

"Eight of the initiatives detected during this tour of France will be showcased at the "Grande Soirée des Trucs qui marchent"on November 18, at the Folies Bergère in Paris, hosted by Maïtena Biraben, in front of 1,500 people", says Raphaël Ruegger.
