Côte d'Ivoire/ Dabakalatou seedbed project launched

The sub-prefect of Tieningboué, Gueye Due Hervé, launched the project to set up a seed perimeter and yam mass production fields, at a ceremony held on Thursday, May 2, 2024 in the village of Dabakalatou.

Mr. Gueye welcomed the initiative, which is in line with the endogenous development advocated by the President of the Republic, Alassane Ouattara. He urged people to work hard to make "Klenglè" yam another product that will increase farmers' profits.

To support farming groups in eight villages, the project has given them 15 tonnes of "Klenglè" yam seed and 30 tonnes of organic fertilizer.

Territorial Development Officer Miessan N'Taye Henri, who made the handover, explained that Dabakalatou had been chosen because the Swiss Research Fund had successfully carried out a yam production project there. "We decided to build on what had been achieved," he said.

The representative of the President of the Regional Council, Coulibaly Mouyama, urged the local population to seize this opportunity to boost the local economy and turn Dabakalatou into an economic powerhouse.economy and make Dabakalatou a benchmark for "Klenglè" yam production. He reassured them that they would be supported by the Agence nationale d'appui au développement rural (ANADER).
