Châtillon Coligny is a commune in the Loiret region, located 10 km north of Rogny les Sept Ecluses along the Canal de Briare. A town with a rich heritage, crossed by the Milleron and bordered by the Loing.

Gaspard II de Coligny, the Montmorency-Luxembourg family, the Becquerel family of physicists and many others have lived here, including the famous writer Colette and the Adnet brothers, renowned designers.

Gaspard de Coligny

Gaspard de Coligny was a French nobleman and admiral, born on February 16, 1519 in Châtillon-sur-Loing (today known as Châtillon-Coligny).today Châtillon-Coligny) and died on August 24, 1572 in Paris, assassinated during the Saint Barthélémy massacre.

The remains of Gaspard II de Coligny's body were brought back to his birthplace 289 years after the St. Bartholomew's Day massacre, in accordance with his wishes. The cassette is inserted into the wall, a vestige of the château built by his father Gaspard I. On the other side, Queen Juliana of the Netherlands, descendant of Gaspard II, and the court financed the present marble monument.

Le Grenier à Sel

The association IF Grenier à Sel, is an art studio and gallery located in the heart of the historic center of Châtillon Coligny.

Built in the 16th century, the Grenier à Sel was once used to store and distribute salt.

The IF Grenier à Sel association is a cross-disciplinaryhub of artistic and cultural expression, promoting exchange in rural areas.

From May to December,Isabelle Frank welcomes you and offers exhibitions and art workshops.

The fortifications of Châtillon Colligny

The historic village of Châtillon Coligny, criss-crossed by canals, retains the character of a medieval town, with its old streets and historic buildings.

The church steeple is built on an ancient 14th-century fortification tower.

La Maison de l'Enfer, 13 rue du Paradis, was a meeting place for Huguenots during the Wars of Religion, and La Maison du Paradis, 3 rue du Paradis, was a meeting place for Catholics.

The present château is an elegant 19th-century building constructed in 1854 by Charles-Emmanuel-Sigismond de Montmorency-Luxembourg (the last of the line). It is the successor to numerous châteaux on this estate, located at the highest point of Châtillon.

Today, the château park is a 33-hectare property, partially surrounded by walls. The 17th-century wooded park covers 20 hectares. It is planted with trees of various species, separated by star-shaped paths, and is listed as a historic monument, having been designed by André Le Nôtre.

The 112-metre-longorangery on the first terrace, lit by 8 large bay windows, is certainly the oldest in France.

Guided and commented tours by the Comité des Fêtes/Syndicat d'Initiative: for individuals: on scheduled dates between April and September: for groups, by appointment only.

Ducardonnet cider mill

The Ducardonnet cider millis located on the commune of Dammarie sur Loing at "La ferme des petites vallées".

Organic production and an eco-responsible approach: all products are organically grown using traditional know-how. The orchards are neither chemically nor naturally treated.

The apples are picked by hand in the orchards, which are located on the farm - no transport is necessary! Pressing, pasteurization, bottling and fermentation are also carried out on site.

The products are sold in the on-farm boutique: ciders, apple juice, cider vinegar, apple and pear beers, etc.
