France/ Seine-et-Marne. This small commune's budget is well above average

The municipality of Saâcy has just received feedback from Public Finance on its 2023 budget, and to say the least, it's very good. Analysis.

With 2024 already well underway, it's time for the communes to analyze the figures for the 2023 budget and therefore those for 2024. For Saâcy-sur-Marne, and its mayor Katy Veysset, the figures are "very satisfactory, and particularly so for a town like ours."

400,000 € surplus in 2023

For 2023, the municipality has, even more than in previous years, "kept its expenses under control, which has enabled us to generate a surplus and thus be able to invest."For 2023, this surplus amounts to 400,000 euros, "an amount that can be reused for 2024.

Over the last 5 years, "we have truly achieved a balance between expenses and investment. What's more, every expense is matched by a revenue," explains Katy Veysset.

Similarly, in view of the Public Finances results for 2023, all the figures are in the green, "even above the national average. For example, our cash flow is well above average.

For every project in the commune, "we almost always succeed in obtaining a subsidy, and I'd like to thank the Île-de-France region and the Seine-et-Marne département for that", continues the mayor of Saâcy.

In the final analysis, the budget for 2024, at 1,930,000 euros, is slightly higher than in other years, "and will enable us to carry out the very many development projects planned to make the area more attractive to visitors.This will enable us to carry out the many development projects planned to make Saâcy-sur-Marne an increasingly pleasant place for everyone," concludes Katy Veysset, very pleased with her municipality's good figures.

What work will be carried out this year?

Some of these projects have already been decided, and should be implemented rapidly.

The first is the redevelopment of rue des Montgrisards. The work, scheduled to last 19 weeks, will involve redesigning the roadway to make it safer for pedestrians.

Secondly, the municipality has planned the purchase and complete renovation of a building destined for the installation of a new business. The building, located at 2 rue Chef-de-Ville, will extend the retail space, diversify the offering and enhance the appeal of the town center.

Saâcy has a number of projects in the pipeline for the new year.

Firstly, the commune is studying the creation of a footpath along the Route de Rebais. This would link the residential area and the campsite to the town center, and ensure pedestrian safety.

On the sports front, the extension of the open-access sports area near the Skate Park and City Stadium should be completed. This would include the creation of a Fitness and Street Workout area (an outdoor sport combining weight training and gymnastics), as well as the construction of a climbing structure for children (aged 7-13).

Last but not least, new urban features are also being considered, including the installation of urban benches and heritage desks.
