Congo-China/Sino-Congolese cooperation: twinning of the cities of Brazzaville and Nanjing
On April 19, the deputy mayor of Brazzaville, Dieudonné Bantsimba, signed a twinning memorandum between Brazzaville and Nanjing, China, with Xia Yan, deputy director-general of the Nanjing Municipal People's Government Foreign Affairs Office.
The memorandum will enable the two cities to exchange in the cultural and economic fields for the well-being of their citizens. Dieudonné Bantsimba recalled the long-standing friendship between China and Congo, indicating that the document will enable the two cities to get to know each other better and contribute to the consolidation of relations between the two countries.
He listed some of the challenges facing Brazzaville, which could be areas of intervention for Nanjing. These include sanitation, waste recovery, strengthening initiatives, digitization of archives and local taxes. On this occasion, Dieudonné Bantsimba invited the Chinese delegation to take part in the next Pan-African Music Festival.
Xia Yan, for his part, presented the values of his city, which is highly developed in terms of its transport network, economy and technology, with both traditional and emerging industries. To this end, he indicated that the memorandum consists of promoting contacts between the two cities, creating a platform, organizing visits between the two cities, exchanging experiences online, creating cooperation between schools as well as deepening humanitarian exchanges. In his view, the two cities form a foundation because they have cultural commonalities and are among Unesco's Creative Cities.The signing ceremony of the twinning memorandum between the cities of Brazzaville and Nanjing was marked by an exchange of gifts between the two officials.
