Algeria/Local development in Jijel: 287 projects for communes

The wilaya of Jijel has just benefited from 287 projects allocated to communes in the state budget for 2024, and included in the economic and social development support program and the local authority solidarity fund.

According to the wilaya, these projects will benefit 28 communes and target various sectors. A total of 114 projects have been earmarked under the local development support fund for urban development, road asphalting, extension of drinking water supply and sewerage networks, and other public utility projects.water supply and sewerage networks, as well as various public utility projects.

The Taher daira heads the list of beneficiary regions with 22 projects, followed by the El Ancer daira with 21 projects, then Chekfa (17) and El Aouana (9).

Under the Local Community Solidarity Fund, 173 projects were selected, including 7 in the public works sector for the upgrading and repair of wilaya roads and communal paths, as well as for the acquisition of equipment and materials, and for the construction of new buildings.They also include urban development work, playgrounds, public lighting and class extension work in regions with a shortage of school infrastructure. The dairies of Taher, El Ancer and Chekfa are the main beneficiaries, with 32, 21 and 20 projects respectively.

These projects, which are intended to address the concerns of the inhabitants of these regions, particularly in terms of drinking water supply, sanitation and road development, will help to improve the living environment of citizens, pending further operations to make the operations more effective.Other operations to improve the efficiency of household waste collection operations are still the black spot for local authorities, which lack sufficient resources to deal with a serious hygiene and sanitation problem.
