The residents of Silmiyiri, in Ouagadougou's 9th arrondissement, have initiated the renovation of their neighborhood's roads, through a voluntary contribution. The renovation work was officially launched on the morning of December 11, 2023, the anniversary of Burkina Faso's independence.

This civic action, which has seen a huge mobilization of Silmiyiri neighborhood residents, is the work of residents' associations. Indeed, seven associations got together to initiate this project in 2019, in order to facilitate access to the neighborhood through the renovation of the main roads and access routes. The work is financed by voluntary contributions from residents, but also by people of good will.

The official launch of these renovation works was presided over by the associations' representative, Joseph Sandwidi, who expressed his satisfaction at the completion of this project, which will make the neighborhood definitively accessible to all, and above all protect it from organized crime.

Local residents, including Habibou Dah/Sanguissou, also expressed their satisfaction. According to her, this is a welcome project, because with the deterioration of the roads surrounding the Kamboinsin cemetery, which is right next door, residents were finding it very difficult to access their homes, especially when it rained.

The renovation work will cost around twenty million euros, said the associations' coordinator, Emmanuel Kaboré.
