She was speaking on the sidelines of a workshop on strengthening the political participation of women and girls in the departments of Goudomp, Bounkiling and Sédhiou, and setting up departmental parity monitoring and alert mechanisms.
The aim of the meeting, she said, was to help raise women's awareness so that they can make useful choices in the forthcoming elections.
She invited women to demand that declared candidates make programmatic offers on their rights.
Ms. Sarr also called for an "inclusive, free and transparent election" where "the democratic game is guaranteed" with women's participation. "Political actors must preach the good word for a peaceful election", she pleaded.
She invited women and social actors to mobilize to prevent electoral violence, stressing that women pay "the heaviest price" during such violence.
