Nguyên Van Nên, Politburo member and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, met on November 16 with Huang Kunming, Politburo member and Secretary of the Guangdong Party Committee, as part of the Vietnamese official's working visit to China.

For his part, Nguyên Van Nên emphasized that in the process of building and developing the integral Vietnam-China strategic partnership, the Party Committee, the authorities and the people of Ho Chi Minh City will continue to promote economic and trade cooperation and people-to-people exchanges. Nguyên Van Nên endorsed the proposal to promote cooperation between Guangdong and the localities and businesses of Vietnam in general and Ho Chi Minh City in particular, saying that the results achieved in political, economic, cultural and educational coopeeconomic, cultural and educational cooperation between Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City and Guangdong have contributed significantly to promoting friendship and enhancing the effectiveness of cooperation between the two countries.

Earlier the same day, Nguyên Van Nên had a meeting with Guo Yonghang, Secretary of the Guangzhou Party Committee, during which the host declared that on the basis of the integral Vietnam-China strategic partnership, Guangzhou still attaches importance to strengthening exchanges and cooperation with Ho Chi Minh City.

Guo Yonghang affirmed his willingness to promote bilateral ties in the fields of urban railroads, infrastructure, cultural research and tourism.

Nguyên Van Nên said that after 27 years of establishing friendly relations and cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and the city of Guangzhou, the two localities had ample opportunity to strengthen their cooperation.

He expressed the hope that in times to come, cooperation between the two cities in all fields would continue to expand, especially in sharing experiences in leadership, management of socio-economic development, bringing practical benefits to both sides.

Ho Chi Minh City is keen to learn from Guangzhou's experience in planning and developing special zones and high-tech zones, in transferring scientific and technological applications, and in building digital government and smart cities.

On this occasion, the Urban Railway Administration Board, the China Subway Association and Guangzhou Metro Group Co, Ltd jointly established common goals through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), to jointly support the implementation of strategic research for the development of Ho Chi Minh City's urban railway network, scheduled for completion by 2035.

Earlier, on November 15 in Shanghai, the Ho Chi Minh City delegation held a working session with representatives of the Shanghai Municipal Finance Committee and the Shanghai Municipal Financial Regulatory Bureau. The delegates shared their experiences on the construction of a financial center model, mechanisms and policies, as well as a legal framework for the construction, management and operation of a financial center.

Immediately after the working session, the delegation paid a field visit to the Shanghai Suhe MixC World project, which covers 42,000 square meters of urban green areas. They visited the Shanghai Shentong Metro Group headquarters and the Emergency Management Center at the Hongqiao intersection, one of the largest traffic intersections in China and the world.
