Cameroun

Haut-Nkam is a department of Cameroon in the West region. Its capital is Bafang.

The department in question lies in the southwest of Cameroon's West region, bordering three departments in the West region and two departments in the Littoral region. In 1935, the subdivision of Bafang in the Bamiléké region was created. After the independence of French-speaking Cameroon, this subdivision became the Haut-Nkam department in November 1960.Ezoic

Haut-Nkam has 7 arrondissements and 45 groupements. In a post on the Facebook page: " Bamilekes, be proud of who you are ", dated October 04, 2023, we learn that the language spoken in Haut-Nkam is Fe'efé'e(Nufi). except around Kekem, in Foutouni and Fondjomekwet where Ghomala is spoken, a Southern variant the same spoken in Badenkop, Batié, Bapa etc. and in Batcha Nda'Nda ", we read.

Yáá mà lahah

So, according to "Bamilekes, be proud of who you are", Haut-Nkam, despite its administrative (7 arrondissements) and traditional (45 groupements) divisions, is theis the only department in the Bamiléké zone to speak a single language for its people (even if it has different variants, they understand each other perfectly).

When you meet your brother from Haut-Nkam, you don't need to know which district he comes from - just say Nzâ léé e (Hello!) Yáá mà lahah (How are you?).

Here are the 7 arrondissements of Haut-Nkam:
