What future for drinking water in Hauts-de-France? At a time when the region has the highest concentration of pesticides in France, according to ANSES, and when drought is beginning to threaten groundwater, the CESER des Hauts-de-France is launching a public consultation on drinking water.

Do you think you might one day experience a shortage of drinking water in your home? How confident are you that the quality of your tap water is safe for your health? These are the kinds of questions that the Conseil Économique Social et Environnemental (CESER) des Hauts-de-France (Economic, Social and Environmental Council for the Hauts-de-France region) is seeking answers to, in a citizen consultation launched on September 12 and online until November 1.

Residents are invited to express their concerns about the future of the region's water resources, threatened by drought and the high presence of pesticides. CESER points out that, to date, tap water in 105 communes in the Hauts-de-France region has been placed under reinforced surveillance prior to any consumption restrictions.

The results are to be discussed at a conference on groundwater quality in the Hauts-de-France region on November 14, 2023.
