Morocco/Sidi Kacem province: ONEE strengthens and secures the drinking water supply to the Ain Dfali commune
The Office national de l'électricité et de l'eau potable (ONEE) recently started commissioning tests for the second phase of the project to reinforce the drinking water supply to the Jorf El Melha - Ain Dfali area, in the province of Sidi Kacem, from wells tapping the Oued Ouargha alluvial aquifer.
These commissioning tests, which have just been successfully completed, concern the reinforcement of the drinking water supply to the Commune of Ain Dfali. They follow the commissioning in June 2022 of the first stage of the Jorf El Melha - Ain Dfali drinking water supply reinforcement project, which concerns the center of Jorf El Melha, ONEE said in a press release.
At a cost of 30 million dirhams, the overall project to reinforce the drinking water supply to the Jorf El Melha - Ain Dfali area consists of equipping 2 wells on the Oued Ouargha alluvial aquifer for a total output of 60 liters per second.bit of 60 liters per second, re-equipping an existing well with 35 liters per second, building two recovery stations with a 500 m3 capacity reservoir, constructing a 2.000 m3 and the laying of 20 km of 400 and 250 mm-diameter supply pipes, according to the same source.
The project also includes a remote management system designed to optimize the performance indicators of the facilities installed, added ONEE.
This major project, part of the National Drinking Water Supply and Irrigation Program (PNAEPI) 2020-2027, whose agreement was signed before His Majesty King Mohammed VI in January 2020, will make it possible to reduce the shortage of drinking water in the centers and communes concerned and, in the medium term, to strengthen and secure the supply to this area, benefiting a population of around 80.000 inhabitants.
It will also help to improve living conditions for the beneficiaries and support the region's socio-economic development, according to the press release.
