Burkina Faso/Lighting in the village of LALLE
In the village of LALLE, in the rural commune of Zam, things have now changed for the families of VSLA group members. In the past, these families found it difficult to carry out their activities at night, due to the lack of lighting. This hampered not only household activities, but also the children's studies.
The NGO Children Believe (CB) and its field partner Organisation Chrétienne d'Entraide et de Développement (OCED), concerned about the well-being of children and their communities, have donated solar kits to over twenty families in the community of LALLE to alleviate this enormous difficulty. With this equipment, women are able to carry out their household and commercial activities at night. Schoolchildren can do their homework without difficulty.
The other outstanding feature of this project is that the kits were installed in June by a woman from the WAYEN community, trained for this purpose and nicknamed "solar grandmother". The bravery of this woman is admired when she installs the solar panels on the roofs of houses. Adama SEDEGO, this "solar grandmother" is praised and admired in the WAYEN community for her courage, working like a man. She was trained as part of the BAREFOOD project under the aegis of Children Believe and OCED. Mme CONGO Fatimata, one of the beneficiaries, testifies to the benefits of the solar kit: "Since I've had my light, I've been able to prepare my soumbala and food at night without difficulty. My children benefit from learning their lessons, and I can see that their level of education has risen.
The president of the LALLE village development committee was also present at the event, and expressed his satisfaction that Mr. Idrissa KABORE had been able to build this jewel. He said: "On behalf of all the members of the village, I'd like to say thank you to OCED/CB, who spared no effort for our women and all our families. This subsidy for solar kits is good for us, because we're benefiting greatly from the lighting and we're able to charge our phones with electricity.
What's more, we'll be spared the stings of reptiles. In the days to come, we'll see a development in women's entrepreneurship. We'd like other families to be able to benefit too. May God bless the NGO Children Believe (CB) and its field partner Organisation Chrétienne d'Entraide et de Développement (OCED).
Over fifty families in the WAYEN community have benefited from these kits in previous years. Now it's LALLE's turn to benefit too. The kits are partly subsidized and repayable in instalments.
